Vegas Baby!

I'm going to Vegas next week and I'm so excited- except that it's for work. But, who cares? It's Vegas! I have never been before and although I am technically working 4 of the 7 days I am there, I still plan on enjoying every bit of it.

I am staying at the Bellagio which I've heard is great- even if the gym costs $25 to just step foot in. So, stay tuned for my own personal pictures (remember, this is not a photography blog- so expect thumbs in the corners of blurry pictures). Tomorrow I'm packing, so we'll see how that goes. See you in Vegas!

Anyone have any favorite spots or must-sees that you recommend I visit? Let me know!

Royalty for the 20-somthing's

Charlotte Casiraghi

Charlotte Casiraghi- the granddaughter of American Actress Grace Kelly and the daughter of HSH Princess Caroline of Monaco. Ok now everyone take note. This will be the new Princess of our generation. She has the looks, the money and the name to make people stop and take notice. Already called one of the great icons of our time by Harper's Bazaar, she has been named the muse of Karl Lagerfeld, who compared her to Brigitte Bardot... when she was only eight.

Charlotte is popular with the fashion industry and many are stopping to notice this beautiful and soon to be well-known girl. She is currently 21 and is already building up quite the closet for herself. Imagine growing up in Monaco; the beach, the parties, the glitz, the glam. Now imagine you're born into the royal family there. Just imagine what your closet would look like.

Charlotte is living this life. It's amazing to think that she's managed to stay so under the radar up to this point. Also worth noting, are Charlotte's two brothers. Andrea and Pierre are taking the world by storm, one party at a time. They are certainly enjoying their time and money with their long beach-blown hair, it's impossible to think these three beauties came from the same parents.

Anyways, for those of you in your 20's, remember her name. She will eventually step out into the limelight one day and will become the fetish of all worldly women. Everything she wears is immaculate and definitely worth mimicing.

a penny for your thoughts...

Spring 2008 Trend: Floppy Hats

The designers' collections for Spring/Summer 2008 were shown last fall and it must've been a sunny day because one theme was evident across all collections: hats. They were everywhere and they were huge. Here are some of the hats that I found particularly attractive.

Michael Kors Spring 2008 collection- love the downshift to the left on each hat.
Milly Spring 2008 collection - safari-themed with hints of color; she's playing it cool- I like this girl.
Ralph Lauren Spring 2008 collection - always done with an air of aristocracy. Lovely.

What's a Girl to Wear?

Teri Jon strapless satin dress $430

With tonight being Valentine's Day - there's a lot of really special ways that couples choose to spend their night together. Some go to dinner, to a movie, to a play, cook together, spend the night in, etc. However you do it, just do it in style and make sure that it's a special moment for you and your loved one. So, with that in mind I found some dresses that I thought would go well for a night on the town- if you so choose. Either way- Happy Valentine's Day everyone!

Hello Lover!

New Dress: I have a black-tie event to attend for work and all of my formal gowns are in another state. So, I decided this would be the perfect opportunity to go out and get a really great gown. I ended up at Sak's Off Fifth and found a Calvin Klein gown that fit perfectly. I don't even think I need to get it altered- this never happens to me. So, here's the dress. I can't find a picture of it in black- but I bought the black version.

Lipstick Jungle

Lipstick Jungle premiered last night and I give it an ok rating. I wasn't blown away (probably because I felt like I had already seen it through the previews) but I wasn't turned off either. I think the writers have an opportunity to give their audience a chance to feel connected to each of these women, but again I have to comment on the complaining about "why women always have to make excuses for their success and power in the workplace and at home, blah, blah blah." Old news.

I also have to comment on the speech one of the girls' bosses gave her about having babies. Basically she is told that she isn't going to be promoted because she had made a comment at a baby shower to her boss's wife about having babies- and the last woman he promoted got pregnant and quit. I also think this is very 80's. This may occur in some backward places in society today, but I think most, if not all, companies have embraced (or at least accepted) the fact that women can be successful and mothers- without repercussion. So, I thought this would have been an important topic twenty years ago, but now it's again, old news. Any woman would hear this and say, "whatever- I'll go work for the company next door that will gladly accept me as a female interested (or not) in having children."

I thought the characters spent too much time outlining each other's personalities, "Oh, Kim (whatever her name is) you're the emotional one of the group or you're the single one of the group." Whatever. Let us watch the show and figure it out for ourselves.

Ok, so now that I've got that off my chest I think I could probably watch next week and maybe enjoy it as long as the writers stop trying to set the show up and just start writing like it's the middle of season four- let us figure things out for ourselves, let the characters be proud that they're as successful as they are (without complaint) and let the show run its course. Develop the characters into more than power women and lets see who they really are- and then we'll pay attention.

Ok, I'm done.

More! More! More!

(Pamela Roland) How I imagine myself looking when I leave my apartment for work each morning. :)

New York Fashion Week continues to storm ahead and I've found some really neat designs by designers I wasn't expecting. Below are my favorites of their creations. Special mention goes out to Badgley Mischka and Monique Lhuiller for their collections. I loved both of them so much! Kudos!

Badgley Mischka - does a great job showing off the models' figures. Very work-to-dinner party appropriate.

Monique Lhuiller - great for the red carpet (since I go all the time) :)
Carolina Herrera - very rustic. I like it.

Cynthia Steffe - I'm not familiar with her work, but I thought these were both worth mentioning.

Dennis Basso - very good for the older woman. Hides yet conveys the appearance of her figure.

Pamela Roland - very chic. Really liked the overall appearance of her collection.

Ports 1961 - thought this was a fun dress. Add a cocktail to her hand and it's me.
